Ann-Marie says: "When Georgia O’Keeffe painted flowers she said, “…I’ll paint it big and they will be surprised into taking time to look at it—I will make even busy New Yorkers take time to see what I see of flowers.” My work tries to emulate that wish—to make the ordinary become extraordinary to a viewer. These two works are from a series done of a location that has enchanted me. The linear aspect of the vine, it’s morphing from being stark to lush over time, all while under the eyes of busy people glued to their phones or intent on conversation is why I chose it. I hope that my work can encourage people to reconsider the mundane things they see daily and appreciate what surrounds them . There is beauty in the small if one takes the time to notice."
