This digital painting is 16x20 inches in size. Of it, Kimberly says: "I created this digital painting in July of 2020 working completely intuitively without any plan of execution or desired outcome. As I began working on the synthetic canvas, I contemplated the time in history I was living through. I allowed my subconscious to come to the surface of my consciousness to illustrate how the pandemic and quarantined isolation was affecting me on a soul level. I realized in creating the work that this pandemic was a destructive force of nature that was clearing a path for the hidden aspects of my self to become known. Just like a wildfire burns decades of growth to create fertilized soil for new life. In the face of chaos and global uncertainty, I tried to hold onto the hope that my “new normal” would include a deeper connection to my self in its most sincere and unapologetic form. I wanted to strip away all of the aspirations and things I thought I wanted in this life so that what I most deeply needed would have a voice. My hope is that through this period of solitude and grief we all have the opportunity to confront our deepest wounds and embrace a more profound empathy for ourselves and each other. "
