Referencing an Ellis Island photograph of a Cossack Immigrant, Deborah Baldizar has created a dignified ceramic sculpture that is 24x24x10 inches in size Deborah Baldizar says "Inspired by the images and their visual depictions of courage during a pivotal moment, Cossack immigrant is about hope, strength, resilience and fear. It's an investigation of what it must have been like in the brutal sanctuary. The eyes portray the faith, determination and sheer resolve. A celebration of strength and vulnerability."
