Accepted Artists in the Textures Juried Exhibition

In the visual arts, TEXTURE is the perceived surface quality of a work of art. It is an element of two-dimensional and three-dimensional design distinguished by its visual and physical properties. It was fascinating to see how people interpreted the theme and, with 194 entries to choose from, juror Rich Watrous had to make some very difficult decisions as to what to include. 65 works by 51 artists were accepted.

Participating artists are: Susan Heuck Allen, Mark Babbidge, Jillian Barber, Gregory J. Barry, Sandra K. Basile, Carol Beagan, Jeffrey Beauregard, Jennifer Booth, Jill Brody, Peter Campbell, Mary Casale, Sonja Czekalski (First Honorable Mention), Marguerite De Lucia Hall, Robert Dec, Angelo Desista, Cynthia DiDonato, Janis Doucette, Liliana Filjman, Eran Fraenkel, Susan Garland (Second Prize), Ann-Marie Gillett, Victoria Guerina, Dina Haskins, Rosemary Hoffenberg, Wendy Ingram, Marc Jaffe, Beth Johnston (Third Prize), Marsha Kartzman, Dave Kendrick, Carolyn Hagy Kent, Ruth Lague, Michelle Lavallee, Gwen LeBlanc, George Lowell, Tim McCarthy, Melanie Medeiros (First Prize), Blanche Milligan, Blair Oliver, Susan Potter, Betsy Ritz, John Sideli (Second Honorable Mention), Beverly Silva, Elinor Thompson, Nancy Turbitt, Peter Turner, Roberta Uhlmann, Aaron Usher, Judy Volkmann, Amy Webb, Denyse Wilhelm and Hollianne Wood Carruthers.

194 entries were submitted; 65 were chosen. Juror Rich Watrous reports that it was difficult to choose only 65 pieces as the works submitted were of high quality and interest. The winners of juror-selected awards are: First Place: Melanie Medeiros; Second Place: Susan Garland; Third Place: Beth Johnston; Honorable Mentions: Sonja Czekalsi and John Sideli.

The show opens on September 12th, 2019 with guest juror Rich Watrous and will be a part of the Pawtucket Arts Festival!  Featuring music by Paul Williams and food by Lisa Champagne Morgan, the opening promises to be a great event. The hours are from 5:30pm to 7:30pm, and prizes of $500, $250 and $100 will be awarded around 6:45pm.

The show will run through 7:30pm on Halloween, with PAC's annual Holiday Member Show opening on November 7th.
